Clare Patterson is currently conducting research into how organisations learn from cyber incidents for her PhD in cyber security at the University of Kent, UK. She is on the Advisory Board of a new BOSCH start up called CyberCompare and has worked in IT and security for nearly 30 years. Most recently as the General Manager for Information Risk Management Strategy & Assurance for Shell, leading Shell’s cyber strategy and policies, cyber security investments, IT controls assurance, and cyber security awareness and training areas. Previous roles in Shell include being the CIO for the Shell Energy Trading business, the Downstream IT Infrastructure Delivery Lead and leading the Security Transformation programme. This followed 18 years as a consultant for KPMG helping a wide variety of organisations to deliver technology programmes and provide independent reviews. Outside of work she loves to explore and has visited over 100 countries, enjoyed over 300 scuba dives, and spent many hours of fun dancing and wine tasting.
