Ciaran Martin was the first CEO of the National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ. Before joining GCHQ, much of his impressive career was spent in the UK civil service including many senior roles within Cabinet Office. During his time as Constitution Director (2011-2014), he was involved in the negotiation of the Scottish Referendum and equalisation of the Royal Succession laws between males and females. Other roles included Directory of Security and Intelligence, Principal Private Secretary to the Cabinet Secretary and Private Secretary to the Permanent Secretary to HM Treasury. Ciaran was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB) in the 2020 New Years Honours List for services to international and global cyber security. Today, Ciaran is a Professor of Practice at the Blatvatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.
